Anastasia Davydova and Anastasia Yermakova (both 1983- ), world champion synchronised-swimmers and two-time Olympic gold-medallists
The two Russian synchronised-swimming queens, both named Anastasia, are going to bid for another gold. Anastasia Davydova and Anastasia Yermankova confidently crowned themselves with gold in the twin synchronised contest on Wednesday, getting absolutely top marks for their technical performance. Now, Anastasia the First and Anastasia the Second are preparing for the group event and to cover themselves once more with glory.
Russia has played a leading role in synchronised-swimming for about ten years now. In the Sydney and the Athens games, the Russian girls struck gold both in the doubles and the group events. But, just in case, chief trainer Tatiana Pokrovskaya said she expects one gold and one silver this time. The good thing about watching a live event, or a sports competition for that matter, is that it’s exhilarating and exciting that sometimes you never know that you are actually at the edge of your seat.
It’s different if you just decide to sit in front of your TV, and watch a game of soccer via live feed. At the living room you may shout, or be overwhelmed by some scenes in the game, but it’s nothing compared to the actual experience of being there in a stadium watching the events unfold in your eyes.
