Cubs’ Hill back in big leagues after harrowing injury

There were nights this past spring, when the temperature dipped into the 30s, that Koyie Hill said his fingers felt like “frozen carrots.”
There were days, when he wasn’t hitting well, that Hill thought seriously about asking the Cubs if they had a coaching job for him somewhere.
But Hill is still playing, and Monday’s call-up from the minor leagues was gratifying on so many levels.
The 29-year-old Hill, a jourmeyman catcher, was making a wood window frame for his house last Oct. 16 when he suffered a horrific injury, one that nearly cost him four of the fingers on his right hand.

These Championships were a great success for Richhill Tug of War Club and the other teams involved as the overall standard of the competition has vastly improved and the competition was closer than in previous years. With this being the qualifiers for representation at the World Championships in Italy the overall quality was of a high standard as there was at least 4 teams pushing in every weight each night, with that rising to 6 teams on occasions. Richhill themselves had placed a B team in the 560kg, 600kg and 640kg on the opening night of the championships with the 560kg and 640kg continuing throughout the championships and the 560kg being the more successful of the two.

This is the year that I get my first NHL Jersey.  I have been a fan of the NHL since I was a kid in the late 70’s, early 80’s.  I tried to watch games as often as I could.  Now later in life I am in my 30’s and my son has been playing youth ice hockey for about 5 years.  We go to all of the local ECHL Florida Everblades games that we can.  We also try to get to the NHL Florida Panthers and Tampa bay Lightning games that we can.

2012 flags fly on The Mall opposite Buckingham Palace
The countdown to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games started with a party for 40,000 in front of Buckingham Palace on 24 August 2008. The Mall in front of the Palace was draped with the Union Jack and 2012 flags while in Beijing the Olympic Flag was handed to the Mayor of London marking London’s role as the next Host City.
